Manchester

My last blog was about Chester. This city is sincerely very charming and I enjoyed it. But on a photographic and personal point of view, Manchester is definitely my kind of place.

I have to sadly admit that I have spent ten year of my life in the UK and never visited Manchester.

Its architecture is incredibly rich, varied, with a style on the move with all the building sites in progress.

For the rest, it reminded me of NYC. Of Brooklyn Williamsburg with its red bricks industrial buildings, the outside metallic emergency stairs. Of Greenwich village with its LGBT village. It also has a Chinatown.

But Manchester also reminded me of Berlin in the 90’s. I sensed the same atmosphere of a city that rethink itself, with buildings growing out of the ground and many cranes pointing to the sky.

Like when I was in Berlin in 1991, I felt that I came to Manchester at a milestone of its history.

Some my find this strange, but it was a wonderful foggy day to visit this city. Somehow, I felt it suited it perfectly, adding a touch of mystery.
